A message from Page One's editor

We're back after taking a couple of days off -- plus, a few words on the election outcome ...

Dear reader,

We wanted to take a quick moment to let you know we had to take a couple of days off following the presidential election, but will be resuming news coverage on Monday, Nov. 11. We also want to thank you for being a subscriber and hope that you've found the newsletter to be useful. Hopefully, the result of the 2024 election did not come as a surprise to daily Page One readers. We think that those who open and read the newsletter every day saw that Donald Trump was well-positioned to win the election, and that the possibility of that outcome was very real.

At Page One, we don't make the news -- we aggregate it.

And our aim is to cut through the noise and find you the most meaningful news, stories and ideas each day from around the news ecosystem to help you understand the country and the world you live in as best as possible. We hope we've been successful so far in this pursuit over the last nearly two years, and we think we have been. At the same time, we aim to find you the fun, interesting, useful stories, and videos that help readers not only understand the news but always be culturally literate. Please expect more of the same.

Lastly, we have some new things planned for 2025, so stay tuned for more on that later. In the meantime, we'll see you in your inbox at around 6 p.m. eastern time with our usual Monday edition of Page One.

Andrew Tavani, Executive editor, Page One
